One in four black men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer

DON’T BE THE ONE

Who we are?

Don’t Be The One is focused on raising awareness about prostate cancer, especially for high-risk groups. By encouraging early screening, regular checkups, and understanding personal risk factors, men can take steps to reduce the chances of late-stage diagnosis.

If you or someone you know is in this high-risk group, consider starting conversations with a healthcare provider about screening options.

That’s why we are here to offer you the support and guidance for the next steps you can take to help navigate your options.

What we do?

Our focus is raising awareness within black communities with a focus around prostate cancer. We want to highlight that black men have got one in four chances of getting prostate cancer. At Don’t Be The One we want to raise overall awareness for health and wellbeing of anyone with prostate cancer or supporting/living with them.

Why it’s important?

We believe Don’t Be The One offers support to our community by encouraging people to speak about what they are going through and share experiences with each other. We want to create conversation with Yorkshire cancer communities.

Our Facebook group has a focus on creating community support around those living with cancer. We will host group meetings, organise talks and offer the needed advice from our friendly team.
